UK companies are seeing significant increases in the number of internal and external regulatory investigations according to a report published by international law firm and litigation heavyweight Fulbright & Jaworski. However, the number of court actions filed against companies appears to be down with 38% of UK companies seeing no court proceedings brought against them in the last 12 months, compared with 17% of US businesses that saw no litigation brought against them.

Job seekers are steadily increasing their use of the internet as a key part of their job search, The Conference Board reported. In the most recent survey of workers who searched for a job between January and September 2007, 73 percent reported using the internet compared to 66 percent of job seekers in the same time period in 2005.

A new report by Merrill Lynch (MER) Global Research says that assets under management in Sovereign Wealth Funds (SWFs) could grow more than four-fold by 2011, surging from US$1.9 trillion to US$7.9 trillion. The research report, titled “The overflowing bathtub, the running tap and SWFs,” states that a massive build up of reserves at central banks is fueling this rapid growth, led by China, Russia and the Middle East.
