Well, judging by the fall on Friday on Wall Street, Australia will take the brunt of today's selling as trading resumes in Asia. Australian market finished nervy and with the worst weekly loss since 1987 on Friday and after the 146 point drop in the Dow, the futures market is signalling a 90 point fall at the opening here .

North American application activity for individually underwritten life insurance remained flat (+0.4%) in January year-over-year, according to the MIB Life Index(SM). Applications were off -4.2% when compared against December 2007 activity. January's month-over-month activity has lagged that of the previous December in six of the last seven years.

Opening prices of the February IPOs were quite different than usual. Unlike other January and February IPOs since 2000, this month’s issues did not produce opening prices that were far above the offering prices. For all nine February 2008 IPOs, the average premium was only 13.3%, well below the averages for January and February IPOs in all prior years back to 2000.
