Manufacturers Don't Know Cost of Engineering Change Orders

Only 67 percent of build-to-order and engineer-to-order manufacturers know how much it costs to produce customized products, and 73 percent don't know the cost of engineering change orders.

Organic Area Accounted for 4% of the Total Utilised Agricultural Area in the EU25 in 2005

In the EU25 in 2005, the organic area made up 3.9% of the total utilised agricultural area. The highest proportions of organic area were recorded in Austria (11.0%), Italy (8.4%), the Czech Republic and Greece (both 7.2%) and the lowest in Malta (0.1%), Poland (0.6%) and Ireland (0.8%). Looking at a longer time frame, for which EU15 data is available, the proportion of organic area in the total utilised agricultural area has increased from 1.8% in 1998 to 4.1% in 2005.

Fitch Ratings said that banks across the globe are significantly more likely to fail than they are to default on their financial obligations, as they often receive support from third parties in times of stress, a new study of more than 1,700 banks over a 17-year period from the rating agency shows.

Small Business Owners Willing to Pay More for 'Green' Products

It may be more expensive "being green" but small business owners are willing to go the extra mile, even if it costs more, to show their customers they care about the environment. The latest survey results from the Wells Fargo/Gallup Small Business Index reveal that two-thirds of small business owners surveyed say they would be willing to pay more for goods and services to run their businesses if they knew they were environmentally-friendly.

China: DVD Exports Slowed Down

CID Consulting says China's DVD exports have slowed down, which is now testing enterprises' survival capacity. Affected by a relatively saturated and slowing global DVD market in the past 2 years, China's DVD export market maintained a trend of rising export volume but falling export value in 2006. For the whole year, export volume totaled 153.341 million sets, up by 4.0% year-on-year, marking a small growth over 2005. Export value stood at $6332.24 million, down by 4.6% year-on-year.

Industrial Production down by 0.8% in Euro Area

Seasonally adjusted industrial production decreased by 0.8% in the euro area (EA13) in April 2007 compared with March 2007. Production rose by 0.5% in both March and February. In the EU27 output fell by 0.4% in April, after increases of 0.5% in March and 0.4% in February. In April 2007 compared with April 2006, industrial production rose by 2.8% in the euro area and by 3.2% in the EU27.

Use of Propane Can Reduce U.S. Gasoline Consumption

At the same time, high definition movie sales for HD DVD reached an all time high for the month of May, exceeding 75,000 movies the last week of May alone.
