The shares of NYSE Euronext began trading today, first on Euronext in Paris at 9:00 a.m. (CET) and soon to follow in New York on the NYSE at 9:30 a.m. (EST). The opening share price on Euronext Paris for the newly merged company was €75. A total of 257,598,971 NYSE Euronext shares were admitted to listing.

According to figures released today by Standard & Poor's fourth quarter 2006 operating earnings for the S&P 500 increased 8.9% over the fourth quarter 2005, marking the first time that the index has failed to post double-digit earnings growth since the first quarter of 2002, eighteen quarters ago.

An estimated 1.3 billion tones of waste is generated annually in the EU and this is still steadily increasing.
