The Conference Board Employment Trends Index: October 2010

The Conference Board Employment Trends Index™ (ETI) increased in October, after a slight decline in September. The index now stands at 98.1, up from September’s revised figure of 97.3. The index is up over 10 percent from a year ago.

Volume of Retail Trade Down by 0.2% in Euro Area in September 2010

In September 2010, compared with August 2010, the volume of retail trade decreased by 0.2% in the euro area (EA16) and by 0.1% in the EU27. In August3 retail trade fell by 0.2% in both zones.

U.S. Employment Situation in October 2010

Nonfarm payroll employment increased by 151,000 in October, and the unemployment rate was unchanged at 9.6 percent, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported. Since December 2009, nonfarm payroll employment has risen by 874,000.

Year-Over-Year Growth Rate Continues to Remain Positive in October, According to Monster Employment Index

The U.S. Monster Employment Index annual growth rate continued to be positive with a 13 percent increase year-over-year, although at a slower rate compared to early summer. The Index dropped two points (1 percent) on a monthly basis, as online job demand continued to fluctuate within a two-point margin for the fourth consecutive month.
