PayPal announced it has been granted a banking license for the European Union by the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF) in Luxembourg, effective July 2, 2007. Under this new charter, PayPal will be able to continue its European expansion by offering its services to more online merchants across Europe. In addition, PayPal will be moving its European headquarters to Luxembourg.

New research from TowerGroup finds that online banking is becoming the most powerful retail channel banks have ever deployed, outpacing everything from ATM to call centers and increasing in use at an annual rate of 27 percent. The long touted promise of online banking is now hitting its stride.

CCID Consulting recently released its Analysis Report on China's Notebook Market in 2007Q1. The Report shows that notebook sales maintained fast growth. Big demand was released in the consumer market, and low- and middle-end products were in short demand. Affected by product supply, many brands experienced short supply.

The average daily number of SETS trades during April 2007 was up 64 per cent on the same month last year to 465,967, making April the sixth month in a row that year on year growth in SETS trades exceeded 50 per cent. The average daily value traded grew 25 per cent to £7.5 billion. The total number of trades on SETS during the month was up 73 per cent to 8.9 million, and the total value traded grew 32 per cent to £143.0 billion.

The first quarter of 2007 has been the best one ever with strong level of activity both on cash and on derivatives markets. These positive market conditions have allowed all business lines to register an increase in their revenues. As a result, revenues for the first quarter of 2007 reached a record level of €310.1m, a progress of 15.6% compared to the €268.1m achieved in Q1, 2006.
